Munich, September 22, 2020: Rapid rise in battery innovation playing key role in clean energy transition – Shepard Fox supports European Patent Office and International Energy Agency in global promotion of study 

Improving the capacity to store electricity is playing a key role in the transition to clean energy technologies. Between 2005 and 2018, patenting activity in batteries and other electricity storage technologies grew at an average annual rate of 14% worldwide, four times faster than the average of all technology fields, according to a joint study published today by the European Patent Office (EPO) and the International Energy Agency (IEA). The report, Innovation in batteries and electricity storage – a global analysis based on patent data, also shows that batteries account for nearly 90% of all patenting activity in the area of electricity storage.  – Shepard Fox is supporting the European Patent Office in promoting the key findings of the study via a global media campaign across Europe, Japan, South Korea, China and the United States, including the creation and distribution of localized press releases, reaching out to tier-1 general and business media, and arranging media interviews for online, print, radio and TV coverage with the authors of the study.

Munich, July 13, 2020: Europe is a global hub for innovation in 3D printing, new study from European Patent Office EPO shows – Shepard Fox supports the EPO in communicating study’s findings to media 

Patent applications for additive manufacturing (AM), also known as 3D printing, increased at an average annual rate of 36% in recent years, a new study from the European Patent Office (EPO) shows. This is more than ten times greater than the average yearly growth of all applications at the Office combined in the same period (3.5%). The steep rise in 3D innovations has the potential to help redesign global supply chains, making them more resilient. The report was published today during a virtual EPO conference. – Shepard Fox supports the EPO in promoting both the conference and the study by creating localized press releases for European countries as well as for the United States, and distributing the releases to media outlets. Today is historic day in Germany corporate history. German airline Lufthansa is kicked out of the German stock index DAX, which comprises Germany’s top 30 blue chip companies. New corporations are joining the DAX index as well the mid-cap index M-DAX. Research by Russell Reynolds shows that the newcomers to the two top leagues of listed companies have a striking impact on the overall composition of Boards: they lower the quota of women on the executive boards of the 90 largest German corporations. The European Patent Office (EPO) today published its annual Patent Index, an analysis of the global patenting activities of companies, research institutions, and universities. The Patent Index summarizes the number of patents filed with the EPO by country, company and technology field. It is considered a key economic indicator as it reflects technology trends, R&D spending and the capacity to innovate which in return correlates with competitiveness and the creation of jobs and wealth. – For the sixth consecutive year, Shepard Fox has been supporting the EPO in communicating the results of the analysis to media, policy makers and the general public via a global media outreach campaign which comprises the creation of localized content including local press releases in 16 languages for twelve of Europe’s largest patent filing countries as well as the U.S., China, Japan, and South Korea.
